WHATS YOUR PROBLEM - BRAINSTORMING

What is the problem? Social issue? everyday hindrance? new product? poor communication?

Problems I encounter

-forgetting passwords

-wondering where my keys are

-wondering if i left my straighteners on

-generally being forgetful - memory app?

-planning a wedding, theres nothing with everthing i need in the one place. virtual wedding planner?

THINGS TO CONSIDER

what I need to do to create a successful app:
  • start skectching ideas - the way i want my interface to look
  • wireframes, storyboards. look at  BalsamiqMoqups, and HotGloo
  • test prototype - inivision app, video
  • design icons
  • design each skin
  • look at fonts, colour schemes
  • logo

The App - initial ideas

After researching whats already out there for planning weddings, i've decided that a wedding organiser brand would be extremely handy. I personally would love an app/website that was connected so i could have all my planning and organising in one place.

Things it could include:

  • visual to-do list - inviations, rings
  • search area to search all aspects - venues, designers, florists, beauticians etc. with contact details, website, rating, reviews, photos.
  • guest list with counter - responses
  • ideas section, scrap book style - colour schemes, music, flowers,
  • online forum with questions - like a feed
  • daily tips and advice
  • DIY tutorials - where to buy items needed
  • notes section
  • alarm for remeinders
  • day countdown
  • timeline, breakdown of what to do in each month
  • budget and what has been spent so far
I feel like theres so much that i could do with this app. Theres so much involved with planning a wedding and i could make it more enjoyable and less stressful with having a beautiful, easy to use interface.

Research

So I decided to gather up some research about what's out there to help with planning a wedding. Obviously you could hire a wedding planner and have them take care of everything, but most people couldn't afford it and where's the fun in that?

I downloaded a few apps and found that's there is loads wedding related but nothing with everything in one. For example there will be one that is just a countdown app, one that is just designed for table planning and other for guests to upload their photos to (which I thinks a great idea)

WeddingHappy
This was the best app i found. Its quite modern and clear. It lets you add in tasks and tick them off once they are completed. Its quite helpful in that you can put in your wedding date and its gives you a schedule with suggested times of when to complete certain tasks.

Wedding UK
This app has a really good idea, but I don't think it works quite as well as it could. Its so bland and boring, the colour scheme is just grey, and it doesn't work for Northern Ireland.

Pinterest (i love pinterest)
Pinterest has been an amazing help so far with ideas and inspiration. Theres so many beautiful images on pinterest, linked to other websites with blogs and forums etc.

Facebook
A lot of businesses have facebook pages these days and its such a handy way of getting their work/products out to the public. Its like word-of-mouth as i can see who my friends recommend and can really get a good look at what they are offering. There is a page in particular called UKBride, it posts status's with questions that people ask anonymously and other people on the page can respond with advice and suggestions.

It would be great if there was an app that included all these in one. Like a personal wedding planner that you could have everything in the one place, for example

-there would be a section for tasks and to-do lists

-a search section that you can search by location/rating/vendor/price ranges

-an inspiration section where you can search and store ideas (like a scrapbook)

-a forum where people can asks questions and give advice

MY PROBLEM

I am currently planning my wedding. It's so exciting and scary, ive never organised anything before and need all the help I can get.

I thought it would be sort of easy as weddings are such a big thing. One of the first things I done when I got engaged was try and get an app so I could keep myself organised and I found there was very little that included what I wanted, like making to do lists, a forum, inspiration, tips, and reminders.

I'm getting married in lusty beg island, co Fermanagh. I'm not really familiar with the area and wouldn't know any local businesses. I started to research things like bakers, florists, hair dressers and make-up artists and I couldn't find anything. I found a few businesses but I couldn't find any reviews.

It would be great if there was something with everything in the one place. You could search by area, star rating, popularity, price range, business type and distance from your venue.
